As the founder and principal at nea studio, I explore the ways in which architecture and interior design can uplift people’s lives. My goal is to guide and support each client throughout a creative design process to produce sustainable solutions that support their wellbeing.

Dr. Nina Edwards Anker, Assoc. AIA, PhD, is an architectural designer with over 20 years of industry experience, including founding and directing nea studio, a small design collaborative working in interiors, architecture, sustainability, and wellness. For 12 years Nina’s practice, based in Brooklyn, has specialized in creating sustainable spaces and holistic environments for wellbeing. nea studio combines cultural, collaborative, and environmental strategies focused on health. Working closely with team members and specialists, Nina continues to expand and deepen nea studio’s research, design and practice in the areas of social/environmental justice and the production of recycled/ biomaterials in furniture and lighting for LEED homes and workplaces.

 

Nina is an architectural design professional who has taught at Parsons, Pratt, the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Sotheby's Institute, the One Lab School for Science and Design, and New York University Gallatin. Formerly, she was an architect at the offices of Pei, Cobb, Freed, Owen & Mandolfo in New York; in Oslo, Norway, she worked as an architect with MMW Arkitekter and a-lab. In practice, Nina won the Good Design Award Chicago Atheneum Museum of Architecture and Design for furniture, the A’Design Award for solar lighting, The Architect’s Newspaper Best Product Award, Domus Best Houses award, the Home & Garden Award for Best New Eco Residence and AIA Award for Sustainable Design of a Residence. Nina holds a PhD from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design and an M.Arch. from Harvard Graduate School of Design.
