east village apartment
New York, NY 2018
The main aim of this renovation of a historic East Village apartment is to brighten the existing 19th century interiors. Original weathered surfaces, including working brick fireplace, wooden window frames and stone hallway floor, are counteracted with reflective surfaces such as polished stainless steel side tables, glass-blown lamps and large mirror.
Renovated bathroom, new entry and bedroom closets, along with white or light-colored painted walls and natural textiles freshen the interiors. By lifting the hallway ceiling a few feet, we amplify the passage of light between south and north-facing windows.
